“PRESS RELEASE”
TEDxKathmandu, an independently organized TED event, is taking place on 30th July 2011 in Kathmandu at the Nepal Tourism Board Hall. The speakers—respected and recognized businessmen, artists, and entrepreneurs—will present their world-changing ideas during brief ten-minute talks and presentations. This TEDx Kathmandu event is the first event of its kind happening in Nepal, after already having been organised in over 800 cities in 60 countries.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. This particular local, self-organized event is branded TEDxKathmandu, where x=independently organized TED event.
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an annual conference held since 1984 in California. TED's motto is “ideas worth spreading” and brings together on one stage some of the world’s greatest scientists, businessmen, politicians, artists, engineers and thinkers together to share their vision. The speakers share much in common: bright ideas, undisputed influence in their respected fields of activity and the ability to talk about sophisticated things in a simple manner The TED videos can be viewed at TED.com. Since 2009, independent TED conferences called TEDx are being held internationally.
TEDxKathmandu is the first ever TED-inspired project in Nepal. We believe in the power of inspired ideas and knowledge and their capacity to change the world for the better. Our goal is to draw this future nearer by giving established and budding Nepali change makers the chance to share their ideas with both Nepali and international TED audience. The event is supported by Voice of Women magazine (VOW.)
The number of attendees to the event is restricted to 100, and the selection will be done through an application process. For more information on TEDxKathmandu, its speakers and access to the application form, visit the event’s website at www.tedxkathmandu.com.

There must be some other way to incorporate who are not employed any where. Just give a try. Thanks !
ReplyDeleteWow! Excited about the event. But, sadly only 100 participants!! :( Moreover, looking at the form it seems like we need to be employed somewhere to be a part of the audience. That's sad too. But, thanks for sharing this info. Glad to know TED Conference has reached Nepal too.
ReplyDeletei am wondering that who are presenting there. I extreamly eager to participate that at any cost but it will be as like what we find in Ted.Com in subject material. It will be very good thing if the organizer mention the name of presenter.
