Have you ever given a thought to the fact that if you were not what you are today due to your qualification, where would you be? This is perhaps a recurring question for most of us. With me, it is always an alternate query hopping on my mind at times- “What if I was not provided with the opportunity of achieving a formal education?” and the response I get is- certainly not what I am today!
(He is certainly wondering about something!)
Admissibly true, I have been one of those lucky ones who were showered with utmost care and understanding of my parents that their girl is equally capable and deserves to be educated which is what, paved my path to a secure independent future. Nonetheless, another fact still pinches my heart that not everyone has had this basic but essential opportunity- there are still thousands of kids still on street or abandoned to survive on their own due direct or indirect harassment. Wouldn’t this world be a better place if every child was provided with education and care to excel in their respective skills? It sure would- and that is the dream of The Voice of Third Generation- to provide an assisting hand to help the deserving children get back to where their excellence would be justified and appreciated as the future of our country. And the school is where it all begins.

We take the undeniable pride in being a Nepali, but the other side of the coin is also true that there are still many more unexplored talents scattered all around the country. Like a diamond is refined and polished from the coalmine, we still need to find and refine our diamonds who are the future leaders of Nepal- the children. “Dai/Didi ek rupiya dinus na, dui din dekhi kehi khayeko chaina(Brother/Sister please give me a Rupee, I’ve been starving since two days)!” “Sir, jutta paalish garne ho? Talakka talaidinchu(Do you want your shoe polished-I’ll make it shine)!” “paanch rupiya ma char wata pen (buy 4 pens in 5 Rupees)” are all the pedestrian quotes we hear everyday in public places- sure they do irritate us; recall the times we have cursed them for being a Khate (street child)…they are all parts of our reality. But, have we ever given a thought that if these bright children were in school, how would their performances be? I bet they would outshine even in academics.
The Voice of Third Generation (VO3G) was conceived with regard to the future of our children- hundreds scattered around the containers with jute bags to be filled with trashed plastics, girls abused for sexual harassment and prostitution, many used to drug abuse and trade, numerous admitted as housemaids/servants etc. Is it written in their fate that they do not deserve to attend school? If so, who wrote their fate? They are parts of our lives, our future which is certainly being decelerated towards darkness. Thence, is it fair to blame the peon who gives unrelated medication to affected patients or to complain that a teacher in a government school is unqualified?
We have initiated with a very small step towards pursuing our dream. VO3G resolves to be actively involved and help those children be equally treated- beginning today till future. Try and step out of your comfort zones to see what it means to live life in the worst case scenarios and appreciate what you have. Let’s join our hands to help those children step up and build the future they deserve. VO3G wants your co-operation in this mission; would you step forward and help our future build a path towards advancement?
